A 2 Day workshop on supporting survivors of mass transportation disasters in the United Kingdom. This workshop will explore the process of supporting passengers, families and employees through the entire response process; from impact through stabilization and long term recovery. This workshop will feature presenters involved in all aspects of a disaster response and will demonstrate the importance and relevance of all organizations that respond and how the multi-disciplinary approach provides the best possible support for all survivors.

Day One

Day one will focus on understanding the survivor’s perspective: what are their needs?
• Hear directly from:
    • Family survivors of air and rail disasters
    • Passenger survivors of air and rail disasters
    • Employee survivors of disaster
• Dr. Carolyn V. Coarsey, author of “Handbook of Human Services Response” who has conducted 20 years of research on how best to assist passenger, family and employee survivors following disaster

Day Two

Day two will focus on the agency perspective and how those agencies can best support survivors within their areas of responsibility and how various agencies and organizations can work together to provide the optimum support to survivors
